  • Model-turned-actress Shinjinee Chakraborty has a new project in her kitty. She has joined the cast of Ponchomi.
    Supernatural fantasy drama 'Ponchomi' has kept the audience glued to the television screen with its frequent twists and turns. And the makers haven't shied away from adding some more twists to the track. Keeping the tradition alive, they have yet another surprise in store. Actress Shinjinee Chakraborty, who made her television debut with the TV show 'Uma', has joined the cast of the Susmita Dey and Rajdeep Gupta starrer. She is playing Chitra's character in the show.
  • Interestingly, Shinjinee, who earlier played a talented cricketer in her first television show, is playing a shape-shifting serpent in 'Ponchomi'. Her reel character in the new show has negative shades. Shinjinee, as Chitra, will be seen in a glamorous avatar, unlike simpleton Uma. Ponchomi's story follows the story of a girl, who was born on Nag Panchami and is blessed with some supernatural powers.
  • While Susmita, as village belle Ponchomi, has managed to make a place in the hearts of the audience, her reel chemistry with Rajdeep is yet another reason that contributed to the popularity of the show. Although the show drew criticism for showing shape-shifting serpents and taking little too much liberty in the name of creativity, 'Ponchomi' fares well on TRP charts.

  • Susmita Dey continues shooting for ‘Panchami’ despite injury,
    Actress Susmita Dey, who is playing the titular role in the recently launched TV drama ‘Panchami’, suffered an injury while shooting. The actress accidentally fell while shooting for a scene alongside co-actor Rajdeep Gupta and hurt her waist. The team was shooting for an important sequence during which, Rajdeep took her in his arm. Accidentally, he lost his balance and fell. While it caused Rajdeep minor leg injury, Susmita’s waist was badly hurt. The actress was in pain and immediately provided with necessary medical support. But because of busy schedule, the actress could only take rest for one day and resumed work. The actress is on wheelchair, as advised by the doctors. Her teammates took utmost care of the actress and made sure she only stands during the shots.
  • Notably, two other artists, Rukmini Maitra and Rano Joy Bishnu, also left their shooting unit and fans impressed with their professionalism. Rukmini, who is currently gracing TV show ‘Dance Dance Junior Season 3’ as a judge, underwent a knee surgery after getting injured during dance rehearsal. But she made sure the team doesn’t have to suffer because of her. She reached the set on a wheelchair and shot for the show. Rano Joy, on the other hand, suffered severe pain in his leg because of which was rushed to a private hospital last month. Although he was discharged on the very next day, doctors suggested him to take ample of rest for a speedy recovery. But Rano Joy too, reached the shooting set of ‘Guddi’.
  • Coming back to Susmita, the young actress made her debut with TV show ‘Aparajita Apu’, which featured actor Rohaan Bhattacharjee as the male lead. It made Susmita popular almost overnight. Post the show, Susmita bagged yet another show (Bouma Ekghor) as a lead, which had a brief run on Bengali TV and went off-air sooner than expected. Currently, she is playing the lead in supernatural-fantasy drama ‘Panchami’.

He was a part of many popular TV shows and also forayed into OTT platform. The actor has been giving the Bengali small screen a miss since quite some time and kept himself busy with OTT projects and movies. But not anymore. Rajdeep will soon be seen making a comeback on Bengali small screen with the television show ‘Panchami’.

Female protagonist Panchami has to bear a lot of humiliation because of her background. Her mom, who gave birth to Panchami at a temple under unusual circumstances, dies right after delivery. The story is based on snake folklores and has a touch of fantasy.
  • ‘Aponjon’, ‘Bakshobodol’, ‘Byomkesh’ are some of Rajdeep’s TV shows. The actor also did web series ‘Rahasya Romancha Series’, ‘Mahabharat Murders’, ‘Murder In the Hills' and others. Susmita, on the other hand, was last seen in ''Bouma Ekghor.'

While ‘Aparajita Apu’ was a family-drama where protagonist Apu’s bubbly nature had managed to woo the audience and the second show ‘Bouma Ekghor’ was a comedy-drama, Susmita’s new show has a mythological essence in it.

Notably, all the upcoming shows are either family drama or will narrate a love story. It will be worth a wait to watch how ‘Panchami’, with a mythological touch in its story, manages to fare on TRP charts.
