Jaya Bachchan's Sony TV project titled Vasundhara

flashed in the media last week pertaining to Jaya Bachchan making her
television debut. As per reports, she will be co producing a show for
Sony Entertainment Television in a joint venture with Endemol India.
As we all know, Jaya’s husband Amitabh Bachchan is also a part of
another upcoming show (fiction) on the same channel helmed by maverick
producer-director Anurag Kashyap.
Latest we have learnt is that the Jaya Bachchan show has been christened Vasundhara and Jaya will be seen playing the role of the head of the family.
The appearance of big names in fiction format was heralded by Anil
Kapoor with him producing and acting in the ongoing show 24 on Colors.
But this big ticket espionage thriller show has not really rocked the
TVT charts.
Let’s hope the Bachchan shows on Sony deliver big numbers for they will obviously be high costing projects.
May be Vasundhara
can be the game changer, as on the face it seems to be more on what
desi TV audiences like. This coupled with Mrs. Bachchan’s experience and
presence may set the ratings on fire. She had earlier produced shows
like Dekh Bhai Dekh under the umbrella of Saraswati Audio Visuals.
We sent a message to Sony TV Business Head and EVP Sneha Rajani for a confirmation quote but she chose not to revert.
