WHY Indian Idol 12 is not a REAL Singing Reality Show but a Drama Show:
Fake love angle!
- From
the beginning of Indian Idol 12, the show has been making it to the
headlines for all the wrong reasons. One of the reasons why it has irked
the fans is the fake love angle between contestants Pawandeep Ranjan
and Arunita. Netizens now seem to be extremely bored with this dragged
love story only to fetch TRPs.
Shocking revelations!
- Another
reason why the singing reality show is making it to the headlines is
because of the shocking revelations being made by the guest judges. Amit
Kumar had appeared on a Kishore Kumar special show and was heard
praising the contestant. However, later he shocked everyone when he
stated that he was asked to praise the contestants even though he did
not enjoy their singing. Recently, Salim Merchant too stated that in the
past he was asked to praise the contestants. He was quoted saying, Yes,
mere saath bhi hua hai. But honestly, maine kabhi nahi suna unki baat.
Shayad aaj main koi judge ki seat pe nahi baitha hoon because of that
(Yes, it has happened to me too. But I never listened to them, maybe
that's why I am not judging any musical reality TV show right now).
Anu Malik's comeback post #MeToo
- Anu
Malik's comeback to Indian Idol 12 as a judge created quite a buzz on
social media. Sona Mohapatra lashed out at the makers of the show for
bringing in a #MeToo accused to be the judge. Many took sides with Sona
and slammed the show.
Aditya Narayan's 'childish' remarks
- Every
time there has been a controversy around Indian Idol 12, show's host
Aditya Narayan has jumped up in defense. More than often he has made
statements in support of the show that have not gone down very well with
the netizens. Even during the Amit Kumar controversy, Aditya Narayan
had defended the show and his remarks were considered 'childlike'. As he
got trolled, in a recent interview with SpotboyE, he said, To all those
who are trolling and lashing out at me, I say, Shashtaang Pranaam to
all and God bless you. I feel like that cheetah who wouldn’t move to
prove he’s the fastest in a dog race. Sometimes trying to prove your
point is an insult to your own intelligence and experience. This is how I
feel while defending arguably the best collection of contestants on a
reality show. Indian Idol is the no.1 reality show for 26 weeks running.
Do I need to defend it?

Backlash over Shamnukhapriya's performance
- Shamnukhapriya's
latest performance left the netizens furious. Fans of the show have
been demanding her elimination as according to them, she ruined the
iconic song Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu with her own rendition. It seems, it
is time for the makers to bring about a change.
Staunch silence by makers!
- For long, Indian Idol 12 is ruling the headlines for all the negative reasons. While contestants are being bashed for bad singing, judges are being called out for fake praising the contestants. The show is also being picked up for not paying heed to any of the fans' concerns. The makers are observing staunch silence on all the controversies and it is adding to frustration of the fans.
