Vijay Suriya, who was last seen on Kannada television in Jothe Jotheyalli in a special role, says, "I play a businessman, who follows his own principles, values relationships and doesn't always think about money. It is always a pleasure to shoot for serials as viewers have showered me with a lot of love and affection." As for films, Vijay has wrapped up the shoot for a crime thriller which will see him play the role of a cop. "This role has a special relevance to me as my grandfather had worked in the police department as a sub inspector," says Vijay, who also has the film Veeraputra in the pipeline.- Actor Karthik Mahesh is making a comeback to the Kannada small screen with the new soap opera Raaji. An elated Karthik says, “I am happy to be back to where I learnt acting. Raaji is my fourth serial, and I felt that I could relate to the character. Raaji is a remake of a Marathi serial, but changes have been brought in to connect with local audiences.” Explaining about his role, he adds, “I play an NRI named Karna, who returns to his roots after staying abroad for over a decade. He comes back to India to spend time with his family, as he loves Indian culture and tradition, and respects elders, which makes everyone love him.” Karthik had a dream start to his career in films, as Dollu -- his debut as a leading man in films -- has been screened at various international film festivals. “People have been talking about Dollu, which has won critical acclaim and is making right noises In the International Film Festivals. Having worked in both films and serials, I feel that I belong to both the mediums of entertainment,” he signs off.
