From casting big movie stars to experimenting with the style of narrations, the makers are ready with their special offerings on Mahalaya. One of the most talked-about TV programs is ‘Debi Doshomohabidya’, which will feature none other than Rituparna Sengupta. Other popular faces from TV will play other avatars of the Goddess.   This Mahalaya, on Bengali television, is certainly going to be a special one. It is the first time, the actress, who has been an essential part of Tollywood for a long time now, will be seen playing Maa Durga on small screen. She has played Debi Durga in different stage shows, and enthralled the audience with her Goddess avatar in photoshoots but, this is the first time, Bengali viewers will see her on the small screen as ‘Mahishasuramardini’. Interestingly most of the popular Bengali film artists including Indrani Halder, Indrani Dutta, Koel Mallik, Subhashree Ganguly, Mimi Chakraborty had played Goddess Durga on television. In fact, some of these popular artists had played the role more than once on TV. But, somehow, Tollywood’s most favourite and successful actress Rituparna wasn’t seen in this avatar on the small screen prior to this. Nevertheless, ‘Debi Doshomohabidya’ will fulfil fans’ dream this year. D****d in a red saree, heavy jewellery, the actress looked beautiful as the Goddess. Viewers will see her dance performances too as the show incorporates many dance routines.

  Senior artist Samrat Mukherji plays Lord Shiva in ‘Debi Doshomohabidya’ Just a few days are left before ‘Mahalaya’ and ‘aam Bangali’ simply can’t keep calm. To make it extravagant, leading TV channels are bringing their colourful entertainment bouquet for the festive season, right from Mahalaya to Durga Puja. Almost all leading channel have raised the curiosity level of the audience by sharing the glimpse of their Mahalaya special show.
  
• A popular TV channel has already caught the attention of Bengali viewers by casting actress Rituparna Sengupta as Maa Durga. The very first glimpse of her as Mahishasuramardini simply left the audience in a complete awe. Interestingly, the makers have roped in yet another senior and popular artist as Lord Shiva. Artist Samrat Mukherji is playing the role in ‘Debi Doshomohabidya’. Viewers have seen him essaying versatile roles in his career, be it in TV serials or movies. Samrat, who is quite passionate about dance, will be seen performing some interesting dance routines in the Mahalaya special show. And his performance left co-star Rituparna amazed too. The duo as Shiv-Parvati looks really convincing on-screen as well.

It has an ensemble star cast featuring some of the most popular faces of Bengali television. Actor Saurav Chakrabarti, who has done films like ‘Panther’ and Hindi TV shows ‘Left Right Left’, ‘Kitni Mohabbat Hai’ and others, will be seen as Mahishasur. On the other hand, Aindrila Sharma, Dona Bhowmik, Rimjhim Mitra, Debleena Dutt, Adrija Addy, and others will be seen essaying different avatars of Goddess Durga, just like Sairity.
• Actress Sairity Banerjee all excited to play ‘Debi Dhumabati’ Actress Sairity Banerjee is quite a busy bee. She is playing a prominent role in daily soap ‘Tumpa Autowali’, making special appearances on non-fiction shows besides shouldering her duties as a mom. Sairity squeezed in some time to shoot for ‘Debi Doshomohabidya’, a special television program to be aired on Mahalaya morning. She will play Debi Dhumabati in it. “I have been working with the channel for a long time now but this is the first time, I will be a part of their Mahalaya special show. It was an amazing experience,” says Sairity. The actress shared how much excited she was about the shoot. “I was very much excited to shoot for the show and the experience was really good. I am playing Debi Dhumabati,” she says.

  “It is always special to be a part of a show on Mahalaya,” says actress Rimjhim Mitra, Actress Rimjhim Mitra recently shot for ‘Debi Doshomohabidya’, a Mahalaya special show starring National Award-winning actress Rituparna Sengupta as Mahishasuramardini. Rimjhim enjoyed the experience a lot, especially because of the nostalgia associated with Mahalaya and the fact that the show included dance sequences. She shared her experience with ETimes TV. “It is always very special to be a part of a show on Mahalaya. And the reason is known to everyone. Mahalaya is always special to everyone who looks forward to Durga Pujo; no matter whether you are Bangali or not,” says Rimjhim. While Rituparna is essaying Mahishasuramardini, other leading actresses will be seen essaying different avatars of the Goddess. “This year, I will be playing Goddess Bhairabi in this special program. A few years back, I played a similar role in a Mahalaya special show which was aired on the same channel. But it was a totally different experience. It was a skit based on a fiction story. We had dialogues and fewer dance performances. This year, it’s another kind of experience. Ritu Di will be seen delivering more dialogues and I got the chance to perform a dance, which I really love. The experience was really beautiful,” says Rimjhim. The actress has always been passionate about dance and made the audiences mesmerised with her skill earlier as well. Heaping praises on the team she had worked with, Rimjhim says, “Our team was extremely professional. Generally, it takes a lot of time to shoot for a mythological program but everything was perfectly arranged. I loved my look as Bhairabi, too. The team beautifully conceptualised and they made sure that I felt comfortable in the attire. I hope the audience will love the show too,” says Rimjhim.

  Actor Saurav Chakrabarti to play Mahishasur in Mahalaya-special show, Actor Saurav Chakrabarti, who was featured in movies like ‘Panther’, ‘Total Dadagiri’, and ‘Tadap’, is ready to entertain the Bengali audience in a brand new avatar. Till now, viewers have seen him playing characters of different shades. In Mahalaya special show, which stars none other than Rituparna Sengupta as Mahishasuramardini, Saurav will play Asur. The actor, who stays in Mumbai, came to Kolkata for the shooting of the special television program. He enjoyed every bit of his experience of working with the National award-winning actress who will be seen as Devi Durga for the first time on a Mahalaya. Model and actor Saurav has worked in many television serials. He played supporting roles in Kritika Kamra and Karan Kundrra starrer ‘Kitni Mohabbat Hai’ and 'Left Right Left', featuring Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan Tejwani as the lead pair. Saurav also has Bengali movies to his credit.
