TOP 10 Controversies of Ranjini Haridas

Ranjini Haridas is one of the most sought-after anchors in Malayalam television. Starting off with Star Singer, she has been a sensation on Malayalam TV. Be it TV shows, stage events, interviews or vlogs, she has her own swag that grabs attention. This time, she is creating a buzz with her revelations about the ill experiences she has faced over her 30-year career. From the MMS scam to sponsors seeking sexual favours, she opened up about it all in a video shared on her online streaming channel.

'He took me out for lunch and offered to buy me a new phone'

In the video, Ranjini shared one of her experiences while she was hosting a popular event in Dubai.

"When I am in Dubai, I often prefer to stay with my friend rather than in a hotel. So, when I came for the event, some of the artists told me that they had been getting calls and hearing knocks on the door during odd hours. Then the coordinator told me that one of the sponsors wanted to take me out for lunch. I went with him and finished lunch, and soon he said that he could take me shopping and buy me a brand-new phone. Trust me, since I was new to the industry, I didn't quite understand his intentions. I innocently said no and came back for the event," she said.

'The Bhadrakali in me came out'

Further, she narrated an incident involving the same sponsor taking the whole team out for a shady dinner.

"After dinner, they took all of us on a boat for dinner. What was supposed to be a dinner party didn't seem to be so. They had invited a group of their people, and it completely looked like a shady place. I didn't find it right; it felt so cheap. Though no one in the team reacted, I started reacting badly. I told them that I would call the police. I understood that no one was going to save me; I had to stand up for myself. I am sure their intentions weren't good when they took us there," she added.

'He told me it's part of the deal'

Further in the video, Ranjini opened up about the first direct approach she faced during an ad shoot.

"It was during one of my ad shoots in Kannur. After the shoot, when I was about to leave, the person came to my room with the money. When I bid goodbye, he asked, 'Are you going? How about...?' I was so confused and asked him what he meant. He replied that he wanted me to sleep with him and said that the coordinator had told him it was part of the deal. I was shocked, and I took him to the same coordinator and confronted them both," Ranjini said.

Ranjini further shared her befitting reply to the approach.

"I demanded to go to his home because I wanted to say this to his family. I remembered him mentioning that he wanted to go back and have dinner with his family. I made him get into my car, and we drove to his home. During the journey, he pleaded with me to let him go, but I wanted to teach him a lesson. But when I reached his home, it was a shocker for me. I was warmly welcomed by his family — his mother, wife, sister, and the whole joint family. I decided not to ruin his family life and came back. I hope he learnt his lesson," she said.

'It is easy to sleep around, but the toughest thing is not to do it'

In the same video, Ranjini also opened up about being labelled a 'slut'.

"Back then, people couldn't accept an independent woman earning for herself. The only way they could think of her making money was by sleeping around. Let me tell you, the easiest thing to do is sleep around and make money. But the real challenge is not to do it! I have been called a whore or a slut my whole life, just because I have broken all traditions by choosing not to marry or have kids," she said.

Interestingly, she also reacted to one of her viral throwback photos in the video.

"I hope everyone remembers the photo of me holding a shot glass with my boyfriend in a pub. Oh God! The buzz that picture created. People kept accusing me of drinking. Well, yeah, I was a grown-up; I was at a pub, I had a boyfriend — big deal!" she said.

The MMS!

One of the most controversial moments in Ranjini Haridas's career was a video that went viral. It was alleged that the video, a sensual MMS, belonged to Ranjini.

"'Ranjini Haridas's MMS' — many celebrated it. I have said this before too: it was not me! That was a beautiful girl who had gorgeous assets. I wished I was that girl," she joked. "Fools, that was not me. 'Ranjini Haridas with a bunch of Arabs', they said!" she clarified.

In the video, she also mentioned encountering an advance from a popular actor.

"He is a popular actor and a friend of mine. He made me uncomfortable once. He sent me a shirtless pic and asked me to send one as well. I directly told him I was not interested. Someone from the music industry also approached me asking for sexual favours, and I said no. His reply was interesting. He said, 'I will keep knocking on all the possible doors. If it's a no, okay!'" Ranjini shared.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 8: Here are 8 hidden details in the logo

Bigg Boss Malayalam 8: Here are 8 hidden details in the logo
On the birthday of superstar host Mohanlal, the Bigg Boss Malayalam team surprised fans by unveiling the logo of the upcoming season. Along with the logo release, the host also announced that the season will feature a pre-launch show to select commoner contestants. Just like the previous seasons, this year’s logo is also packed with intricate details that could possibly hint at the theme and tone of the season. Ready for the dissection? Here are 8 hidden details in the logo.

The colour tone

Reminiscent of the colour tones used in the logos of Seasons 3 and 5, the team has opted for a red-and-gold theme this time. The golden-coloured logo set against the fiery red backdrop makes it visually striking.

Number 8

The major highlight of the logo is the inclusion of the season number within the design itself. The number 8 stands out prominently with a golden outline and a tinge of red inside. Notably, the eye symbols are placed within the number.

Two lenses

Interestingly, for the first time ever, the design features two lenses, aka eyes, in the logo. Could this possibly hint at a theme similar to the Commoner vs Celebrity format seen in Bigg Boss Telugu?

Δημοκρατία

Notably, for the first time, a word is spotted on the logo. On the ‘8’, the Greek word Δημοκρατία is written. In English, “Dimokratia” means democracy. This could be a hint at the democratic way in which contestants would enter the show this time.

Hands in the logo

Yet another detailing in the logo is the symbols of hands in the background. This could hint at the representation of people from different walks of life.

Fire element

The fire element is also evident in the logo this time. From the fiery effect in the background to the flame-like art included on both sides of the 8, fans can expect a fierce season this time.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 set to launch Agnipariksha; logo out on host Mohanlal’s birthday
What else could a Bigg Boss Malayalam fan ask for! The logo of the upcoming eighth season is out, and that too on superstar host Mohanlal's birthday. For the first time ever, the logo release has been done through a promo featuring the host announcing yet another surprise.

The teaser starts with a voice-over of people sharing their concern about not getting into the show since they are commoners. Superstar Mohanlal, in his iconic moustache look, hears the same and says that he can very well relate to the emotions of a commoner.
“I was also a commoner when I came into the industry as Narendran in Manjil Virinja Pookkal. I know the apprehensions and sorrow of a commoner,” he says.

Further in the video, the host announces that this time the show will welcome more commoner contestants, but with a special pre-launch event.

“Bigg Boss Malayalam stands out with the inclusion of commoners in the show, and this time it is going to be more. Ahead of the premiere, there will be a special show to showcase the talents of commoners, who can eventually enter Bigg Boss. Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 Agnipariksha — Your Ticket to Fame,” he announces.

The commoner selection event, Agnipariksha, was recently seen in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9, where a special talent hunt show was conducted to select the commoner contestants for the show. The show, judged by former contestants, threw different challenges at the commoners, and the selected ones got into the show, which was themed ‘Celebrity vs Commoner’. Notably, Kalyan Padala, a commoner contestant, had lifted the trophy in Nagarjuna Akkineni’s show too.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 is expected to have its grand launch by September. The last season of the show crowned TV actress Anumol as the winner. Commoner contestant Aneesh emerged as the first runner-up.
